“Dune” reboot stuns audiences with breathtaking visuals

By Baylor Brooks

Denis Villeneuve’s newest science fiction film Dune was released on October 22nd. The film stars Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Issac, Rebecca Ferguson, and Zendaya. This film is grand in every sense of the world. The cinematography by Greg Frasier is beautiful and demands to be seen on the biggest screen possible. The visual effects are able to keep up too. The film has no glaring bad effects that pull you out of the film. The worldbuilding is great in this film. Villeneuve continues to work on his resume as one of the best sci-fi directors of all time. Hans Zimmer’s score amplifies every scene and really sets the tone for the film. Timothee Chalamet delivers a solid performance as the main character Paul Atreides, even if a little stale at times. For a film that starts with “Part 1” the audience knows that the full story will not be finished in this film, but the ending works well considering everything, it doesn’t just cut to black suddenly. The sequel to the film has officially been announced, leaving many fans, including myself, very excited for what Villeneuve has to offer. Overall, I’d give Dune four and half stars out of five.
